CAMPER CONDUCT POLICY

&

TRAVEL RELEASE

Swift Nature Camp is a small(100 campers), child-centered community where Boys & Girls function in an atmosphere dedicated to fun and to individual personal growth. Camp life, with its intensive group living situations offers children an opportunity to personally grow and try new things without the direct supervision of their parents. For many this is a rewarding opportunity for some this "new found freedom" can be a challenge. Often this close communal living can foster various role-playing gestures and peer pressures. Since our camp population is only a sampling of today's society, it is important to clearly state both what Swift Nature Camps standards are and what action we will take in our role as "substitute parents" in the event that these standards are not met. Parents please read and discuss with your child then sign and return to camp.

Swift Nature Camp accepts all applicants who are willing to abide by the rules and policies. We expect and encourage each camper to act with positive behavior toward others including staff. Behavior should not be rude, mean spirited, mentally or physically harmful to themselves or toward others. Behavior that is harmful or potentially harmful to campers, like persistent verbal or physical aggression, theft, vandalism or violation of safety rules, is inappropriate. We will counsel and if necessary, discipline campers who do not respect others. If such counseling and discipline does not result in cooperation and positive behavior, we will consult with the camper's parents. At its sole discretion, camp has the right to dismiss any child, without a refund of tuition. Mandatory dismissal includes, but is not limited to, the use or possession of drugs, tobacco, alcoholic beverages, knives, guns or any other camp inappropriate or illegal substance. We reserve the right to search campers belongings. Any camper who chooses not to follow this policy may be counseled and if necessary disciplined or dismissed.

Participating in S.N.C. activities is voluntary and and you should familiarize yourself with the camp program and activities in which the campers participate. Recognize that certain hazards and dangers are inherent in camp events and programs, particularly, but not limited to the activities of water-skiing, swimming, sailing, challenge course, tubing, roller blading and canoe and backpack trips. Acknowledge that, although Swift Nature Camp takes safety measures to minimize the risk of injury, S.N.C. cannot insure nor guarantee that participants, equipment, premises, or activities will be free of hazards, accidents, or injuries. Campers must understand the importance of using caution and being safety conscious at all times and in all activities at camp, this includes abiding by the camps rules and regulations and procedures.

We also wish to point out that our contract with each STAFF MEMBER requires the same level of behavior, and provides for dismissal of the staff member if his or her behavior fails to meet these standards. Please sign that you have read and discussed Swift Nature Camp's Conduct Policy.
