Minnesota Summer Camp - 2026
Only 2 Hours from Mpls

A Fun, Safe & Meaningful Summer for Your Child

Hi, I’m Jeff, camp director since 1996.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of welcoming thousands of campers from Minneapolis and beyond. When parents begin searching for a Minneapolis sleep away camp, they often tell me they’re looking for something simple—but important.

They want their child to be happy.
They want them to feel comfortable.
And they want them to have a summer filled with fun, friendships, and growth.

That’s what we focus on every single day.

😄 A Fun Summer Camp Experience That Feels Like Home

Kids come to camp for fun—and they find there’s something special about a place where days are filled with exploring the outdoors, laughing with new friends, and trying things they may have never experienced before. It’s not forced fun—it’s the kind that happens when kids feel free to be themselves.

Around camp, that might look like a group of campers heading out on a frog hunt, others caring for animals, or kids simply talking and laughing under the trees. These small, real moments are what make a fun sleep away camp near Minneapolis turn into something much more meaningful.

What I’ve Seen Over the Years

After nearly 30 years as director, what stands out most to me isn’t just the activities—it’s the transformation.

I remember one camper in particular. She arrived excited but quickly became very homesick. For the first half of her stay, she struggled. She missed home, missed her routine, and it was hard for her to fully jump into camp life. We supported her, stayed patient, and gave her the space she needed.

Then one day, something shifted. She was suddenly smiling, joining activities, laughing with other campers—completely different. Later, I asked her what had changed. She looked at me and said something I’ve never forgotten: “I decided I was going to enjoy camp instead of being sad… because I knew that’s what my parents wanted for me.” It was such a simple thought—but such a powerful one. And that’s something I’ve seen again and again at camp.

Sometimes, when kids step away from home and into a supportive, positive environment, things become clearer. They grow. They adapt. They discover strength they didn’t know they had.

Why Families Choose Our Minnesota Sleep Away Camp

Parents often tell me they’re not just choosing a camp—they’re choosing the people who will be caring for their child.

That responsibility is something we take seriously.

At camp, your child is surrounded by staff who:

  • Truly care and take time to get to know each camper
  • Encourage kindness, inclusion, and confidence
  • Help kids feel safe, supported, and part of something

We’re not a massive camp where kids get lost in the crowd. We’re a community where each child matters.

Close to Minneapolis, Yet a World Away

Families love that we’re within 2 hours driving distance of Minneapolis–St. Paul, making this a convenient sleep away camp for Minnesota families.

It’s close enough to feel comfortable—but far enough that kids can experience real independence, new friendships, and the magic of camp life.

And something special often happens…Parents are always welcome to visit. They arrive expecting a quick hello or maybe lunch together—but instead find their child fully engaged, smiling, and connected. Many times, campers don’t even want to leave for a visit because they’re having so much fun being part of camp.

More Than Just a Fun Camp

Yes—camp is fun. It should be.

But over the years, I’ve seen that the Best Minnesota overnight camp becomes something more than just fun—it becomes a place where kids truly grow. Just like adults, children grow when they are challenged. And sometimes, those moments don’t feel fun right away. Whether it’s trying something new, being away from home, or pushing through a tough moment, that’s where real growth begins. What makes camp special is what comes next...That feeling of accomplishing something difficult, realizing “I can do this”. This feeling stays with a child far longer than any easy fun moment ever could.

At camp, fun and growth go hand in hand—and in the end, it’s often those small challenges that become the most meaningful and memorable parts of the summer. Kids leave with:

  • Confidence they didn’t have before
  • Friendships that feel real and lasting
  • A sense of independence and pride
  • And memories that stay with them for years

For many, this becomes their place—the Minneapolis sleep away camp they look forward to all year long.

the simplest moments at camp can make the biggest difference.

Parent Questions About Minneapolis Sleep Away Camp

1. Is this a good first-time overnight camp for my child?

Yes. We have a special one week, 1st time overnight camp. This session is for younger campers who have not been to camp before. We keep the sessions small so each child get the attention they need.  We focus on helping kids feel comfortable, supported, and included regardless if they come to the First Timer camp or come to a longer session. From day one we are all about inclusion so campers can adjust at their own pace and enjoy the camping experience.

2. What if my child gets homesick?

Homesickness is very normal. Our staff is experienced in helping children through those feelings with patience, encouragement, and positive engagement in activities. In most cases, kids settle in and begin enjoying camp once they feel connected and involved.

3. How do you keep kids safe at camp?

Safety is always our top priority. We maintain trained staff, clear supervision, structured activities, and a caring environment where every child is known and looked after throughout the day. Plus we have a Registerd Nurse who lives at camp and a Doctor in town that we can go to.
