Swift Nature Camp is a premier summer camp for boys and girls ages 6-17, located conveniently near Illinois. We use fun camp activities along with a specialized Camp Zoo and Nature Center to increase a child's appreciation for animals, nature, and the environment. Through engaging activities and positive staff role models, we help children develop lifelong skills such as confidence, teamwork, leadership, compassion, and communication. "As the Director of SNC for over 30 years I have many stories but this one stays in my head It is about a first time camper, a young girl who came to us from the Chicago suburbs. During her first few days, the weight of being away from home felt heavy; she was quiet and tearful. I decided to take her on a quiet walk over to our Camp Zoo.
As we walked through the Nature Center, she spotted a small, fluffy bunny. I told her that this bunny needed someone special to look after it, and I asked if she would 'adopt' it for her stay at camp. Magically, her entire demeanor shifted. This First timer camp is only for new campers so they can experience all the fun of camp while building confidence and independence. we also offer 2,3 and 6 weeks of camp for new or returning campers.
