Hi there! Lonnie here. I wanted to share a little bit about why our local Open House at Fullersburg Woods is truly one of my favorite days of the year. For me, the most rewarding part is finally getting the chance to meet your family face-to-face. While we spend plenty of time chatting over the phone or through emails, there is something incredibly special about shaking hands and seeing the excitement in a camper's eyes. It’s the moment where "camp" stops being a concept and starts feeling like a community. Building that personal connection helps us understand your child better, ensuring that when they head off to camp this summer, they are greeted by a familiar, friendly face who already knows exactly who they are.
I also know that the lead-up to summer can sometimes feel like a whirlwind of logistics, and honestly, a little bit of "first-time" nerves. We host this afternoon in Oak Brook specifically to help reduce that family stress. By meeting our team in a relaxed, local setting, those "unknowns" start to disappear. It’s a wonderful time for parents to ask those last-minute questions and for campers to start making friends before they even leave home. When you head home from the woods, our goal is for you to feel completely at ease, knowing your child is joining a supportive, caring family.
