catOvernight Summer Camp is an exciting time for kids to make new friends, try new activities, and gain independence. However, with the ongoing pandemic, many parents are feeling anxious about sending their children away to camp. Despite the uncertainty, camp spaces at Swift Nature Camp and other camps are filling up quickly. In this article, we'll discuss what parents can do to secure a spot for their child at the camp they want.

First and foremost, it's essential to start early. As soon as you know your child's summer schedule, begin researching camps that match their interests and your family's budget. You'll want to look at the dates, length, location, and program offerings. Once you've found a few camps that fit your needs, reach out to them to inquire about availability and registration deadlines.

Next, be flexible with your dates. Some camps may only have a few spots left on certain weeks or may offer a discount for attending during less popular times. If you have multiple options, consider choosing a less popular week to increase your chances of securing a spot.

Another tip is to stay connected with the camp. Many camps offer newsletters, social media updates, and email lists to keep families informed about any updates, changes, or openings. Sign up for these communications to be in the know and to show your interest in the camp.

It's also important to be prepared with all the necessary information and documents. Make sure to have your child's medical forms, emergency contact information, and any other required paperwork ready to go. Some camps may also require a deposit or full payment at the time of registration, so have your payment information available as well.

If your preferred camp is full, don't give up hope. Many camps have waitlists and may contact families if spots become available. Consider putting your child on the waitlist and exploring other camp options as a backup. You never know when a spot may open up, and having a backup plan can ease your stress and give your child something to look forward to.

Finally, consider virtual or day camp options. Many camps have adapted to the pandemic by offering virtual or day camp options, which can provide a similar experience while staying closer to home. If you're not comfortable with overnight camp yet, explore these alternatives to keep your child engaged and active during the summer months.

Camp bunks at Swift Nature Camp and other camps are filling up quickly, but there are still ways to secure a spot for your child. Start early, be flexible, stay connected with the camp, have all necessary information ready, consider waitlists and backup plans, and explore virtual or day camp options. With these tips in mind, you'll increase your chances of giving your child a summer camp experience they'll never forget. See What Space is Left

camp horse ridingSwift Nature Camp is a summer camp in Minnesota, dedicated to providing children with a fun and engaging outdoor experience. The camp offers a variety of activities, including hiking, canoeing, swimming, and more, all of which help to build a camper’s confidence. In this article, we will explore how Swift Nature Camp can help build a camper's confidence.

First and foremost, Swift Nature Camp provides campers with a safe and supportive environment. For many children, going away to camp can be a scary and overwhelming experience. However, at Swift Nature Camp, campers are welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home. The counselors are trained to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the small size of the camp allows for personalized attention and care. This sense of safety and belonging helps campers to feel more confident in their surroundings and in themselves.

Another way that Swift Nature Camp helps build a camper's confidence is through the wide range of activities offered. Many of these activities involve stepping out of one's comfort zone and trying something new. For example, some campers may be hesitant to go canoeing or hiking at first, but with the guidance and encouragement of their counselors and peers, they are able to conquer their fears and accomplish their goals. This sense of achievement can be a huge confidence booster for campers, as it shows them that they are capable of more than they may have initially thought. Having animals at summer camp that require care and attention also help children build confidence in campers. When someone or something is relying on you, campers step up their game.

In addition to the physical activities offered at Swift Nature Camp, there are also many opportunities for creative expression. Campers can participate in arts and crafts, music, and drama programs, which allow them to express themselves in new and exciting ways. This can be particularly beneficial for campers who may not excel in traditional sports or physical activities. By exploring their creative side, campers can discover new talents and skills, which can help build their confidence and self-esteem.

One unique aspect of Swift Nature Camp is its focus on nature and the environment. Campers are encouraged to explore the natural world around them and learn about the different plants and animals that inhabit it. This not only teaches campers about the importance of conservation and sustainability but also helps them to develop a deeper connection to the natural world. This connection can be a powerful confidence booster, as it allows campers to feel more in tune with themselves and their surroundings.

Finally, Swift Nature Camp provides campers with many opportunities for leadership and responsibility. Campers can participate in group activities and projects, such as setting up campfires or preparing meals, which require teamwork and communication skills. Additionally, older campers can participate in the camp's leadership program, which helps them develop important leadership skills and prepares them for future responsibilities. By taking on these responsibilities, campers learn to trust themselves and their abilities, which can be a significant confidence booster.

In conclusion, Swift Nature Camp is an excellent choice for parents looking to build their child's confidence. With its safe and supportive environment, wide range of activities, and focus on nature and leadership, Swift Nature Camp provides campers with the tools they need to feel more confident in themselves and their abilities. By giving children the opportunity to try new things, express themselves creatively, and develop important life skills, Swift Nature Camp helps campers to grow and thrive in ways they may never have thought possible.

Minnesota Summer CampAre you looking for a overnight summer camp in Minnesota that will provide your child with an unforgettable experience? Look no further than Swift Nature Camp! Our camp offers a unique combination of traditional overnight camp activities and an emphasis on nature education all in a fun and supportive environment.

Every family wants their child to succeed at overnight camp. To ensure a successful summer for your child and your family, we recommend following these Dos and Don'ts when considering an overnight camp:

DO your research to find the right camp for your child. Swift Nature Camp is the perfect choice for kids who love to play outdoors, making new friends, and learning about nature.

DO try and schedule a tour of the camp just 2 hours from Minneapolis before camp starts. Seeing our beautiful camp setting and meeting our staff will give your child a better idea of what to expect and ease any nerves they may have.

DO get to know our camp director and leadership team. Our team is passionate about providing a safe and fun environment for all campers, and we want to get to know your child and family too! A Meet & Greet is held in person prior to camp as well as a many Zoom Meetings prior to camp.

DO trust our team to make the right decisions for our camp. Lonnie & Jeff have 28 years of experience and expertise in providing a positive camp experience for children.

DO be honest with us about any special considerations your child may have. We want to ensure that every camper has a comfortable and enjoyable experience. After all you are the expert on your child, help us to be an expert as well.

DO talk about Swift Nature Camp in a positive way leading up to the summer. Encourage your camper to look forward to all the fun activities they will participate in and the new friends they will make. If you are concerned talk to other adults or the Directors not your kids.

DO let your child know that it is okay to miss home and still have fun at camp. Homesickness is a natural feeling, and we have strategies in place to help campers feel comfortable and happy. Our small size makes it easier to give individual attention to each camper

DON'T make pick-up deals with your child. We want to encourage campers to stick with the program and gain independence and confidence. So do not tell them " Just try it for a few days, if you don't like it, I'll get you". This is a guarantee for failure.

DON'T obsess over the photos we share on our website or social media. Photos only show a small snapshot of the day, and your child may be fully engaged in an activity even if they are not smiling in the photo.

DO feel free to call Lonnie & Jeff every day if need be. If you hear nothing from us, that is good. We will contact you if there are any issues, and we want to give campers space to grow and learn.

DON'T pack items that we ask you to leave at home, such as phones & food. We have strict policies in place to ensure a safe and positive camp experience for all campers.

DO send your child a positive letter in the first few days of camp. A letter from home can be a great comfort to campers and remind them that you are thinking of them. Although close to Minneapolis, it still takes 3 days to ge a letter to camp.

DON'T write about all the things they are missing or how much you can't wait for them to be home. This can make them feel homesick and anxious.

DO participate in any new camper get-togethers we schedule. These events are a great way for your child to meet other campers and feel more comfortable.

DON'T overpack. We have limited storage space, and do laundry 1 time a week..

DO know we have no visiting day. Parents can come when ever they want (after the first 7 days). However less than 10% of our parents visit. They save that visit for pick up day.

DO try to enjoy your summer knowing that your child is having fun and making memories at Swift Nature Camp. We are dedicated to providing a safe, positive, and educational experience for all campers.
